A well-written task post attracts more offers, better offers, and faster responses. The difference between a vague post and a clear one can mean the difference between waiting days and getting offers within hours.
Start with a clear, specific title. Instead of "Help needed" write "Fence panel replacement — 3 panels in Kenilworth". The title should tell a doer exactly what the job is and where it is without clicking through.
In the details section, include: exactly what needs doing, the size or scope of the work (measurements help), the condition of the existing work (if applicable), when you need it done by, and any access issues or requirements.
Upload photos if possible. A picture of a broken fence panel, a leaking tap, or an overgrown garden tells a doer more than 100 words. It also helps them quote more accurately.
Be honest about the condition and difficulty. If the fence is rotten and needs post replacement, say so. If the garden has not been touched in 2 years, mention it. Surprises on site lead to revised quotes and frustration for both parties.
Set a realistic budget expectation. You do not need to state your budget, but if you have one, mentioning it helps doers decide whether to apply. A post that says "budget around £200" will attract different offers than one that says nothing about price.
